The idea is you can manage, tag, and organize all your media—video, audio, and stills—with a single program. The Auto-Analyzer also divides long clips into scenes. Additional Project and Sharing Presets. Because Adobe has done your homework for you. A single preset takes care of all the settings for frame sizes, frame rates, aspect ratios, codec selection, and a bunch of other technical details.
Presets have been in Premiere Elements for a while. Version 8 includes new ones for some of the newer camcorders and sharing options. These two programs are both consumer versions of professional products. If your video project uses still photos that need a little tweaking and retouching, Photoshop Elements is the perfect tool for the job. Seriously, Photoshop Elements is pretty smart when it comes to your video projects. Both Elements programs use Elements Organizer to manage video, audio, and photos.
The very first version of Adobe Premiere arrived for the Macintosh in In contrast, Premiere Elements first appeared in From the beginning, it was designed to repackage Premiere Pro for consumers. Each year, Adobe releases a new version of Premiere Elements that adds features to keep pace with the ever-changing video landscape. They skipped versions 5 and 6, so that Premiere Elements could numerically get in step with its older sibling, Photoshop Elements. Features such as the ability to handle new video formats, analyze video clips, and work with audio, tend to appear first in Premiere Pro.
To click means to point the arrow cursor at something on the screen and then—without moving the cursor—to press and release the left clicker button on the mouse or laptop trackpad. To double-click , of course, means to click twice in rapid succession, again without moving the cursor. And to drag means to press the left button continuously on an object and then move the cursor. Keyboard shortcuts. Every time you take your hand off the keyboard to move your mouse, you lose time and potentially disrupt your creative flow.
Choice is good. Premiere Elements frequently gives you several ways to trigger a particular command—a menu command or clicking a toolbar button or pressing a key combination, for example. Some people prefer the speed of keyboard shortcuts; others like the satisfaction of a visual command available in menus or toolbars. This book lists all the alternatives, but by no means are you expected to memorize all of them.
Despite the many improvements in software over the years, one feature has grown consistently worse: documentation. At times, the terse electronic help screens assume you already understand the discussion at hand and hurriedly skip over important topics that require an in-depth description. Engineers often add technically sophisticated features to a program because they can , not because you need them.
The purpose of this book, then, is to serve as the manual that should have been in the box along with your program.
This book periodically recommends other books, covering topics that are too specialized or tangential for a manual about Premiere Elements. Premiere Elements 8: The Missing Manual is designed to accommodate readers at every technical level. The primary discussions are written for advanced-beginner or intermediate computer users. They offer more technical tips, tricks, and shortcuts for the experienced computer fan.
Open that. Inside the Documents window is a folder called Adobe; double-click it to open it. Inside that folder is yet another one called Premiere. Double-click to open it, too. Verified Purchase. Book is packed with information, but the binding and small inner margins make the book hard to read.
I had to systematically "bend back" roughly evenly spaced sections of the book so that it would open more easily. Maybe spiral binding might have been a better choice by the author with wider inside margins. While the cost of production might have been somewhat higher, this is not a cheap book to begin with. I realize that a book like this has a limited audience, but readability will make a big difference in how much the book is used and whether a buyer would be inclined to buy future editions of this series.
Just finished the book I received it yesterday. I'm a instructor for some years and highly proficient. I'm using Elements now because my workload these days, doesn't warrant the cost of CC previously know as CS. Because Element's is a simplified scaled back version of Pro, it's layed out different. This book, is well thought out and well written. It's going to make a handy reference for me to navigate around this software.
Great book This book is expensive but well worth the money. It has made it possible for me to edit some large movie files I have been trying to edit for years. The book is educationally sound. It tells you what is available in the program, then shows you how to do it several times so you really learn how to do it. They cover all the advanced features of 15, you decide how much you want to use.
It works well to have a project open in 15 and try the things the book is teaching you as you go along. Excellent book and attractive, with clear full-color screen shots. I'd give it five stars except for the fact that it didn't have answers to some of my more esoteric questions--it's more of a tutorial than a massive comprehensive reference book. If you've bought Adobe Premiere Elements 15, this manual is definitely worth the reasonable price.
Combine it with Steve Grisetti's tutorials on YouTube, and you'll be ready to make movies. Regardless of your video editing skills, this book will be invaluable during your learning curve with Premiere Elements This is pages of detailed information accompanied by full color illustrations.
Each of the 21 chapters covers one individual aspect of the process in fine simple detail beginning with becoming acquainted with the program and ending with your final saved product. Its hard to find a "Favorite" section in this book, but if I had to choose one, it would be the index. There you will find every word and phrase imaginable with a page number where you can find answers.
This book is always at my finger tips when working on video. Thank you Steve Grisetti. Money well spent! SteveO Olympia Washington. Since it is I found this book very helpful.
